With your help, we wish to support the children’s immediate needs while continuing to contribute to the school's self-sustainability amidst growing global economic challenges. By attending the fundraiser you could:
- Help develop a small computer lab at the school: To pilot the usefulness of computers at the school, we brought a laptop to Bumala. Teachers and students alike have been using the laptop to develop their computer literacy. We also recently learned that locals have expressed interest in computer lessons for a small fee. So we are inspired to create a small computer lab for skills that seem to be in high demand! Cost: $3,000.
- Help the school obtain electricty: Since the school does not have electricity, the computer runs on battery packs. When the batteries die, Charles brings them to another location to have them recharged. This arrangement is inefficient and will be even moreso if we add more computers to create a lab. Also, the school relies on natural lighting during the day, which can be quite poor during the rainy seasons. Help us get connected to the current electricity system that runs near the school. Cost: $2,000.

|
| |
- Help support the school lunch program: Food has become a greater priority as inflation continues to
put this basic necessity out of reach for many poverty-stricken families. Cost: $50/day for 164 children.
- Help support the teachers: There is now a total of 17 teachers at both Kawangware and Bumala schools who work on a small salary. Cost: $50/teacher/month.

- Help us start a volunteer program in Kenya:
|
 |
|
The possibility of a volunteer program fits wonderfully with our long-term vision of self-sustainability for the school and our goal of education through cultural exchange with communities of developing nations. Although in its preliminary stages, we have the support of the Bumala community to collaboratively move forward with the program. |

"I am officially opening the new 3 classroom addition tomorrow by having a parents' meeting, recruiting new children in baby class, and adding one teacher who will handle Standard 4 next year. At the moment, we have enough rooms but with fewer desks, uniforms for newcomers, and textbooks for Standard 4."
